Subject: Serious Habitual Offender in Our Community
The Saskatoon Police Service, under the authority and pursuant to the Public Disclosure Act, is announcing that a serious habitual offender is again residing within the Saskatoon area.
James Wade Smith, DOB: 1964, February 21, has a history of committing violent sexual offences against females, both previously unknown to him and with whom he is acquainted. In previous offences, his victims have been primarily of young adult age.
Mr. Smith is described as male, 168 cm in height, and 82 kg in weight.
Mr. Smith is subject to a court order for the period of twelve months from August 16, 2006, which requires he:
(a) abide by a curfew from 10:00 p.m.. to 7:00 a.m., except for the purposes of employment;
(b) abstain from the possession and consumption of alcohol and other intoxicating substances or drugs, unless medically prescribed;
(c) not have in his possession any firearms, ammunition, explosive substances, cross bows, knives or other weapons of any kind.
It is important to know that this information is intended to enable the members of the public to take suitable preventative measures, and not to embark upon any form of vigilantism or other unreasonable conduct directed at this individual.
The Saskatoon Police Service wants the public to be aware of Mr. Smith's presence in the Saskatoon area and of his potential to re-offend. If any person is aware of any violations relating to the actions of Mr. Smith, they are asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service immediately at 975-8300.
